Vincent the cat was born with an abnormality in his hind legs, which meant he couldn’t walk. Abandoned as a kitten, he was left in the hands of the Story County Animal Shelter in Iowa. Usually, it’s bad news for a kitten in this position. However, thanks to the determination of workers at the shelter, some top veterinarians and an experimental procedure, he’s now back on his feet and very happy.

A gorilla famed for its ability to converse in sign language is now a mother after “adopting” two adorable kittens. Koko the gorilla recently turned 44 years old, and to celebrate, the staff at the Gorilla Foundation in Redwood City, California, surprised the gorilla with a box containing a litter of kittens to play with. The gorilla used sign language to communicate to her trainer that the kittens are her babies, and the staff let Koko keep Ms. Gray, as well as another kitten named “Ms. Black” to raise as her own.
